Dr. Katherine B. Bevans earned her Masters and PhD in Psychology from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. And completed her fellowship at the NIMH-Center for Prevention of Youth Violence at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, MD. Previously, Dr. Bevans was a Research Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She is a child health outcomes methodologist whose work is grounded in the belief that stakeholder engagement enhances the value and impact of health outcomes research. Bevans has developed and validated over a dozen child- and parent-report health outcome measurement tools. She supported the creation of 22 Patient Reported Outcome Measurement Information System® (PROMIS) pediatric item banks including measures of children’s stress response, subjective wellbeing, physical activity, family relationships, and global health. These instruments are used to gauge the quality of pediatric healthcare in research, quality monitoring and improvement, and clinical care contexts. 
 
Bevans is the lead investigator on several Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) contacts aimed at enhancing patient and family engagement in research. Currently, she leads a multi-stakeholder team that is developing YouthBuild, a set of interactive, web-based training modules and resources that prepare youth and collaborating researchers to establish, maintain, and operate research partnerships. This project is one example of her commitment to enhancing the meaningfulness and impact of pediatric health research by developing new ways to co-produce knowledge in the context of equitable multi-stakeholder partnerships.
